Mavromoustakis is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Nicosia, Cyprus. He received a five-year dipl.Eng (BSc/BEng/MEng) in Electronic and Computer Engineering from Technical University of Crete, Greece, MSc in Telecommunications from University College of London, UK, and his PhD from the department of Informatics at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. Dr. Mavromoustakis is leading the Mobile Systems Lab. (MOSys Lab., at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Nicosia, dealing with design and implementation of hybrid wireless testbed environments, high performance cloud and mobile cloud computing (MCC) systems, modeling and simulation of mobile computing environments and protocol development and deployment for large-scale heterogeneous networks as well as new ‘green’ mobility-based protocols. Dr. Mavromoustakis has participated in many EU funded projects and regional ones. Dr. Mavromoustakis has extensive experience in simulation of wireless systems, MP2P and Opportunistic Systems, Mobile Computing and Web technologies. Dr. Mavromoustakis is an elected active member (Officer/Secretary) of IEEE/ R8 regional Cyprus section since Feb. 2014, and since May 2009 he serves as the Chair of C16 Computer Society Chapter of the Cyprus IEEE section. Dr. Mavromoustakis has a dense research work outcome in Distributed Systems and spatio-temporal scheduling applied in Mobile and Wireless Systems, consisting of numerous refereed publications. He is a management member of IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) Radio Communications Committee (RCC) and served as track Chair and co-Chair of various IEEE International Conferences (including IEEE ICC, IEEE Globecom, IEEE AINA, IEEE IWCMC, IEEE Internet of Things, ACM MSWiM etc). He is the recipient of various grants including the highly competitive European grant of Early Stage Researcher (ESR), for the excellent research output and research impact, last December 2013 (EU secretariat/Brussels).

  • AL-SAKIB KHAN PATHAN (SOUTHEAST UNIVERSITY, BANGLADESH)+ BioAl-Sakib Khan Pathan received PhD degree in Computer Engineering in 2009 from Kyung Hee University, South Korea and B.Sc. degree in Computer Science and Information Technology from Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Bangladesh in 2003. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Computer Science and Engineering department, Southeast University (SEU), Bangladesh. He is also holding the position of Additional Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), SEU. Previously, he was with the Computer Science department at IIUM, Malaysia during 2010-2015 and with the BRAC University, Bangladesh during 2009-2010. He also worked as a Researcher at Networking Lab, Kyung Hee University, South Korea from September 2005 to August 2009 where he completed his MS leading to PhD. His research interests include wireless sensor networks, network security, cloud computing, and e-services technologies. Currently he is also working on some multidisciplinary issues. He is a recipient of several awards/best paper awards and has several notable publications in these areas. Along with the fast development of computer technologies, e.g., ubiquitous computing, cloud computing and cyber-physical system, all kinds of networks (e.g., control network, communication network, sensor network, body area network, social network, opportunistic network, cloud-based network, etc.) appeared and were applied in large-scale factories, including a lot of traditional and new industries, e.g., textile industry, coal industry, mining industry, steel industry, machinery industry, petrochemical industry, and biomedical industry, etc. Assisted by various industrial networks, automation in industry can reduce cost greatly because it takes advantage of control systems and information technologies to optimize productivity in the production of goods and delivery of services. However, the industrial environment is dynamic and harsh usually, including extreme temperature, humidity, electromagnetic interference and vibration, which proposed specific requirements to intelligent industrial systems under certain circumstances. All these highlight the criticality of the design, analysis and implementation of intelligent industrial systems.
