In this Special Issue, we will explore innovative methods in the areas of business aptitude and data mining as well as specific methods dealing with the topic of Big Data and web data mining in the cloud. The advent of technologies such as the Internet of Things, Cloud Computing and the wide variety of social media applications, have led to organizations producing huge volumes of data in unified formats. Nowadays, ubiquitous access to information and applications leads people to adopt Cloud Computing in increasing degrees. Scrutinizing the data associated with cloud applications and operations provides indispensable knowledge for investors; techniques from business intelligence and data mining to extract relevant knowledge from data sources therefore constitutes an important vein of research in the field of Big Data and business intelligence. Big Data analytics is in high demand for computing efficiency, knowledge discovery, problem solving, and event prescription.
