  • Gururaj H L (Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering)+ BioGururaj H L joined the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Malnad College of Engineering (India), as Assistant Professor in July 2013. Currently he is working as an Assistant Professor in Computer Science and Engineering, Vidya Vardhaka College of Engineering, Mysuru (India). He received Young Scientist Award for International travel Grants from ITS-SERB, DST, Government of India in December 2016. He has been involved in research projects in a range of settings including, agriculture, health, education, arts, culture, and community. He leads the research, design and development community WiNG-Wireless inter Networking Group ( He is the author of over 50 publications and he is currently on the editorial board of 3 international peer-reviewed journals. Aims & Scope
Recent worldwide forecasts have clearly indicated that the size of population in cities will rise eight folds in the coming 5-7 years. This immense growth will put a high strain on resources and pose severe challenges to various facets of everyday life in urban areas, like quality of services in medical, educational, environmental, public safety, security etc. So, various novel methodologies in city management are required to keep the city sustainable. The adaption of technologies like IoT, Blockchain, Smart Sensors, Wireless Communications, 5G gave birth to new term titled “Smart Cities”, which implies the sustainable city growth by making major improvements in terms of city orientation, and solutions to several problems like energy utilization, traffic management, parking, safety, pollution, and even recreation. A city is termed as “Smart” when strong investments in human and social capital and traditional and modern communication infrastructure supports sustainable economic growth and high standards of living. In this, Internet of Everything (IoE) play an important role to connect everything together via machine-to-machine (M2M) communication. Because in the Internet of Things, all communications are between machines, IoT and M2M are sometimes considered synonymous. The more expansive IoE concept includes, besides M2M communications, machine-to-people (M2P) and technology-assisted people-to-people.In the Smart City context, IoE will serve as a digital overlay to unify city infrastructure, its people, things and data. IoE is not a single technology, but rather a concept. In a larger context, IoE is thought of as the confluence of consumer, business and industrial internet, and thus can enable P2P (people-to-people), P2M and M2M communications. IoE connects people, data, things, and processes in networks of billions of automatic connections, unlike today where one must proactively connect to the network and to one another, via personal devices and social media to gather information. These automatic connections would create vast amounts of data, which when analysed (either in information-gathering end devices or fog computing nodes) and used intelligently can allow for real-time decision making, and thus have boundless applications including Smart City solutions.The special issue (SI) aims to bring together researchers, academicians, and practitioners to discuss various aspects of Internet of Everything for smart cities and explore key technologies and develop new applications in research field.
