What is Bidding and Community Review?
Bidding is a standard part of the review process in eScripts that allows for crowdsourcing high quality reviews for submissions to EAI Transactions. It is done in the Bid to Review section of eScripts, where titles and abstracts of all papers currently open for bidding are displayed.
eScripts revolutionizes research for submitting authors, as well as reviewers and journal editors by democratizing the review process. By offering reviewing opportunities to members of the EAI Community, eScripts drives up the competition in reviewer qualifications while speeding up the entire review process. Thanks to Bidding, all papers submitted to EAI Transactions undergo Community Review.

How it works
- Author submits paper.
- Handling editor initiates the review process.
- Abstract of the submitted paper appears in the Bid to Review section of eScripts.
- Reviewers in the EAI Community are notified about new submissions open for Bidding.
- Potential reviewers pick and choose paper(s) they would like to review and they Bid to review. They are required to complete their Bid by submitting their bio and professional qualifications.
- Handling editor collects the Bids and selects the most suitable candidates. Editor may base their selection on the bio, qualifications, previous reviewing experience and speed of previous reviews of the candidates.
- Once editor picks and confirms the candidates, they become reviewers, they gain access to the full manuscript, and they may proceed with the review.
- Once reviewer completes and uploads their review, the review will be evaluated by the editor. This evaluation – along with the speed of the review delivery – will be recorded and shown alongside the reviewer’s next bid.
